RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Janice Tjen and Eudice Chong’s spirited run at the Eastbourne Open came to an end in the quarterfinals, where they fell in a tight battle to Isabelle Haverlag and Maia Lumsden on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Competing on grass at the WTA 250 event, the Indonesia–Hong Kong duo pushed the Dutch–British pair to a deciding super tie-break before bowing out 4-6, 6-3, 7-10.

The match began with Janice/Chong struggling to hold serve, dropping early games to concede the first set 4-6 despite briefly rallying to level at 4-4, Antara reported.

They responded strongly in the second set, trading breaks before seizing control with a decisive break in the eighth game, closing it out 6-3 to force a decider.

The final set was fiercely contested, with both sides exchanging breaks until a super tie-break was required. At 7-7, Haverlag/Lumsden surged with three straight points to clinch victory and secure their semifinal berth.

Statistics reflected the narrow margin: both pairs converted four break points, but Haverlag/Lumsden proved slightly more efficient overall, winning 66 points to Janice/Chong’s 61.

The result ended Janice’s Eastbourne campaign, following her earlier singles exit in the first round against American Caty McNally after a grueling three-hour contest. ***
