RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir released participants of the full marathon category of the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) 2026 at the National Monument (Monas) area, Jakarta, on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The event set a record as the marathon event with the highest number of full marathon participants in Indonesia.

As many as 8,000 runners participated in the full marathon category in this year's event. This number makes the BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 one of the largest running events in the country.

The enthusiasm of the participants also came from abroad. A total of 1,012 international runners took part in the competition. The five countries with the most participants are Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea.

In addition to being attended by thousands of runners, the BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 also features 14 elite world athletes. Among them are Truphena Chepchirchir from Kenya, Alemnesh Herpha from Ethiopia, as well as Jane Mora and Kana Numata from Japan.

Before sending off the participants, Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, encouraged the runners and reminded them of the importance of maintaining health and safety during the race.

"To all the runners, I wish you a happy run. Take care of your health and safety. Most importantly, start and finish in good health and safety," he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, appreciated PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) for consistently supporting the organization of sports events that are part of the 499th Anniversary celebration of the City of Jakarta.

"We would like to thank BTN for organizing this running event as part of the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations. Jakarta's anniversary is commemorated on June 22, while the peak of the celebrations will be held on June 27," he said.

The BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 was also attended by several officials and stakeholders, including the Deputy Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Fauzi Amro, the Head of the BUMN Investment Management Agency and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara, Doni Oskaria, the President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, and the Deputy Chairman of PB PASI, Tigor M. Tanjung.

The organization of the BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 is expected not only to encourage the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle, but also to strengthen Jakarta's position as a sport tourism destination capable of attracting participants and tourists from various countries.
