RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari were denied the title at the Australian Open 2026, finishing as runners-up for the second consecutive year.

In the final at Quaycentre, Sydney, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, the duo--popularly known as Ana/Trias--lost to China’s Jia Yi Fan/Zhang Shu Xian in straight games, 22-24, 13-21.

Reflecting on the match, Febriana admitted that composure was the missing factor in crucial moments.

“In the first game we actually controlled the play, but at critical points we needed more calmness and patience. We became too rushed when leading. In the second game we tried again, but they were already more prepared,” she said, as quoted by Antara.

Despite the disappointment of back-to-back runner-up finishes, Meilysa expressed gratitude for the positive experience. “The positive thing here is we gained the atmosphere and feel of the competition. Hopefully we can continue to have this kind of experience going forward,” she remarked.

Echoing her partner, Febriana emphasized the lessons learned from the BWF Super 500 tournament. “Going forward, what we need to improve is confidence, being braver, patient, calmer, and staying focused in the final points,” she explained.

The result underscores both the progress and challenges facing Indonesia’s women’s doubles, as Ana/Trias continue to build consistency against the world’s top pairs. Their resilience and determination remain key to future success on the international stage. ***
