RRI.CO.ID, Sydney - Indonesian women’s doubles badminton pair, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari reached the final of the Australian Open 2026 after coming from a game down to defeat a Taiwanese duo in three sets.
Ana and Trias beat Hsu Yin‑Hui and Lin Jhih Yun 15–21, 21–14, 21–10 in a 68‑minute semifinal at Quaycentre, Sydney, on Saturday. The Taiwanese pair dominated the first set, leaving the Indonesians struggling to find their rhythm.
Indonesia rebounded in the second set, seizing momentum with a five‑point run that they preserved to level the match 21–14. The duo carried that momentum into the decider, opening with a nine‑point streak and maintaining consistent pressure after the interval to close out a convincing 21–10 victory.
“Thank God, we won and made the final. In the second and third sets we executed our game plan,” Trias said.
Despite her joy, she stressed the need to stay focused and perform at their best in the title match.
Ana noted that their opponents had studied their patterns but added that the pair managed to find solutions when trailing. In the final, Ana and Trias will face Chinese pair Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian for the championship. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
