RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s cricket team has carved out a historic milestone, securing a place in the semifinals of the ACC Women’s T20I Premier Cup 2026 and, with it, qualification for two major continental tournaments next year.
Their emphatic 113-run victory over Oman in Wednesday’s quarterfinal at YSD-UKM Cricket Oval, Bangi, Malaysia, not only booked a last-four spot but also guaranteed participation in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup and the ACC Women’s Rising Stars Asia Cup 2027.
“This is an important achievement for Indonesian women’s cricket. The players showed tremendous hard work, courage, and unity," Indonesian Cricket Association (PCI) Chairman Abhiram Singh Yadav said in a statement released Thursday, June 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
"Advancing to the semifinals and securing places in the Asia Cup and Rising Stars Asia Cup 2027 proves that Indonesian cricket continues to move forward,” Abhiram added.
The success was hailed as a landmark moment in the sport’s development, underscoring Indonesia’s growing presence on the Asian stage. PCI Secretary General Albert W. Tangkudung credited the collective effort of athletes, coaches, officials, and administrators at both national and provincial levels.
“We are grateful for this result. The team has been consistent from the opening match through the quarterfinal. Hopefully this momentum can be maintained heading into the semifinal and bring Indonesia the best possible outcome in Asia,” he said.
Indonesia, led by Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sekarini, will face Thailand in the semifinal on Friday, June 12. ***
