RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian cricket has marked a breakthrough on the international stage, winning the East Asia‑Pacific (EAP) regional championship and establishing itself as one of the region’s top performers.
Indonesia captured three honors at the ICC Development Awards 2025: Development Initiative of the Year, Associate Member Men’s Team Performance of the Year, and Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year. These achievements have propelled Indonesia into contention for four global award categories, to be announced this July.
The accomplishment places Indonesia on par with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the nation with the most global representation in cricket development awards.
“These awards highlight outstanding programs implemented by ICC members to expand cricket’s reach, create new opportunities, and deliver tangible community impact,” ICC Chairman Jay Shah said in an official statement on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
He added that this year’s winners demonstrate innovation, ambition, inclusivity, and strong commitment to developing the game worldwide.
Indonesian Cricket Association (PCI) President Abhiram Singh Yadav hailed the achievement as a milestone in the sport’s national journey.
“A few years ago, it was hard to imagine Indonesia standing shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the world’s leading cricket‑developing nations. Today, through the hard work of the entire Indonesian cricket community, we have succeeded in becoming regional champions and advancing to the global stage,” said Abhiram.
The ICC Development Awards, first introduced in 2002, recognize members that show innovation and real impact in cricket development.
Regional winners from six main categories will now be assessed by an independent panel comprising former international players, ICC representatives, media, and official partners to determine the global award recipients. ***
