RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Japanese women's singles player Akane Yamaguchi advanced to the final of the Indonesia Open 2026 with complete confidence. The world number three defeated South Korean representative Sim Yu Jin in straight sets, 21-14, 21-7.

The third meeting between the two players lasted for 29 minutes at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Out of those three encounters, Akane Yamaguchi has won every single time.

The 2025 Paris World Champion put on an impressive performance right from the first game. Akane easily secured the interval, scored consecutive points, and quickly claimed the opening game.

Her impressive play carried over into the second game. Celebrating her birthday today, the Japanese player opened the second game by scoring seven consecutive points.

Sim Yu Jin tried to catch up but fell even further behind. The Japanese representative secured the interval while continuing to rack up consecutive points. It did not take long for Akane to wrap up the match.

After the match, Akane Yamaguchi expressed that winning on her birthday felt special. Nevertheless, she admitted that she remained completely focused on the game. "Winning on this special day makes me happy. On the court, I didn't think much about my birthday; I just focused on the match," she explained.

Next, Akane will face world number one An Se Young in the final. She stated that she will prioritize her recovery before the championship match.
