RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s tennis player Janice Tjen continued her impressive rise on the WTA doubles circuit, partnering with Australia’s Talia Gibson to capture the Birmingham Classic 2026 title.

The top-seeded pair silenced home favorites Harriet Dart/Maia Lumsden in the final on Friday, May 5, winning 6-4, 6-3. Janice and Gibson asserted themselves early with powerful serves, recording two aces in the opening set.

Though the second-seeded British duo responded with strong serving of their own--landing 70.6 percent of first serves and winning 62.5 percent of those points--the Indonesian-Australian pair proved sharper in return games, converting three of four break points to secure the set.

The momentum carried into the second set, where Janice and Gibson tightened their grip. Backed by another pair of aces and winning 84.2 percent of first-serve points, they saved all break opportunities against them and closed out the match in one hour and 14 minutes.

The Birmingham crown marks Janice’s fifth doubles title since joining the WTA Tour in September last year. She previously lifted trophies at the WTA 125 Suzhou 2025 with Aldila Sutjiadi, the WTA 250 Chennai 2025 with Aldila, the WTA 250 Guangzhou 2025 with Katarzyna Piter, and the WTA 250 Hobart 2026 with Piter.

While her doubles success continues to flourish, Janice’s singles campaign remains a work in progress. The 24-year-old exited in the second round at Birmingham, still searching for consistency after reaching a career-high ranking of world No.36 earlier this season during the Middle East swing. ***
