RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia maintained its perfect start to the ASEAN U-19 Boys Championship 2026 with a 3-0 victory over Timor-Leste on Thursday, June 4, 2026, setting the stage for a crucial Group A encounter against Vietnam.
Playing at North Sumatra Main Stadium in Deli Serdang, Indonesia collected maximum points from its second group match and stayed firmly in contention for first place in Group A, Antara reported.
The hosts adopted an aggressive approach from the opening minutes, pressing high and attacking at pace. However, heavy rain left the pitch slippery, making it difficult for Indonesia to convert its early chances.
The breakthrough finally came in the 42nd minute when Reno Salampessy fired home a powerful shot after receiving a through ball from midfield. Indonesia doubled its advantage in the 61st minute through Irfan Siregar, who capitalized on a scramble inside the Timor-Leste penalty area.
Just three minutes later, Arkhan Kaka added a third goal, extending Indonesia’s lead to 3-0 and effectively putting the match beyond reach. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle blown by Singaporean referee Mustaffa Muhammad Zulfikar.
Earlier in the day, Vietnam delivered an equally impressive performance by thrashing Myanmar 5-0 at the same venue. Vietnam's goals were scored by Tan Rung Le (28th minute), C Hau Huange (45th), Van Bach Nguyen (49th), Khang Hoang (63rd, penalty), and T Phu Nguyen (84th).
As a result, Vietnam sits atop Group A with six points from two matches and a goal difference of +8. Indonesia also has six points but trails in second place with a goal difference of +5.
Timor-Leste and Myanmar remain without points in third and fourth place, respectively.
The upcoming match between Indonesia and Vietnam on June 7 is expected to determine the Group A winner and could be one of the standout fixtures of the tournament's group stage. ***
