RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia has secured at least one representative in the women’s doubles semifinals of the Polytron Indonesia Open 2026, after two home pairs -- Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum -- both advanced to the quarterfinals.

Febriana/Meilysa, popularly known as Ana/Trias, booked their place in the last eight by defeating Taiwan’s seventh seeds Hsieh Pei Shan/Hung En‑Tzu in a hard‑fought three‑game battle, 13‑21, 21‑17, 21‑15, at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Trias credited the passionate home crowd for lifting their spirits. “The fans were incredible today, and it gave us extra motivation to fight harder,” she said after the match, as quoted by Antara.

Ana/Trias struggled in the opening game against Hsieh/Hung’s aggressive style, which relied on fast attacks and no‑lob shots. They regrouped in the second game, showing patience in controlling the tempo and using the windy court conditions to disrupt their opponents’ rhythm. “They had stronger power, but we learned to use the wind to find openings and break their momentum,” Ana explained.

In the decider, the Indonesian duo played with greater confidence, maintaining control while their opponents faltered with errors. Trias added that they had anticipated Hsieh/Hung’s attacking approach. “We knew they rely on no‑lob and aggressive play, so we prepared to counter that,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rachel/Febi followed suit by defeating the American pair Francesca Corbett/Jennie Gai in another three‑game contest, 21‑18, 17‑21, 21‑13, ensuring an all‑Indonesian quarterfinal clash. The result guarantees Indonesia a place in the semifinals of this BWF World Tour Super 1000 event.

Despite facing teammates from Pelatnas Cipayung, Ana stressed their determination to perform at their best. “This is a Super 1000 tournament, and we’re playing at home. We want to give everything we have,” she said.

Indonesia’s women’s doubles campaign could strengthen further, with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi still in contention to join their compatriots in the quarterfinals against Hong Kong’s Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam. ***
