RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s mixed doubles pair Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu avenged their previous defeat to South Korea’s Kim Jae Hyon and Jang Ha Jeong in the opening round of the 2026 Indonesia Open.
In the match held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Jafar and Felisha secured a straight‑games victory, winning 21‑11, 21‑14.
The Indonesian duo had earlier lost to the Korean pair in a three‑game battle at the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships, with scores of 21‑23, 22‑20, 10‑21.
“Alhamdulillah, today the match went smoothly, and we were able to win and get our revenge,” Jafar said.
Beyond avenging the earlier defeat, the victory carried added significance for Jafar and Felisha. The win helped restore their confidence after a series of less‑than‑satisfactory results in recent tournaments.
“If you ask whether I’m happy, yes, I’m quite happy. But if you ask whether I’m satisfied, not yet. I still want to improve my performance in the next matches because the further we progress, the stronger the opponents will be,” Felisha said.
Commenting on their performance, Jafar and Felisha acknowledged they are still working to address weaknesses in their game. They admitted there is much to improve if they want to compete consistently with the world’s elite mixed doubles pairs.
In the second round, Jafar and Felisha will face Malaysia’s Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie. The head‑to‑head record currently stands at 3‑0 in favor of the Indonesian pair. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
