RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s mixed doubles pair Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil overcame a tough challenge to advance to the second round of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2026, defeating France’s Julian Maio/Lea Palermo in three games.

Playing at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 2, Adnan/Indah recovered from a slow start to secure a 14-21, 21-19, 21-11 victory in their opening match, Antara reported.

The French duo began strongly, dictating the rhythm early in the first game and leading 7-3 before maintaining control to take the opener 21-14. Adnan/Indah struggled to break free from the pressure but regrouped in the second game, finding their rhythm and holding an 11-8 lead at the interval.

With disciplined play, the Indonesian pair held their nerve to clinch the second game 21-19, forcing a decider.

In the third game, Adnan/Indah came out aggressively, building an early lead and extending it to 11-7 at the interval.

From there, they proved unstoppable, piling on points to close out the match 21-11 and secure their place in the next round. The victory showcased their resilience and ability to adapt under pressure.

In the second round, Adnan/Indah will face the formidable Chinese pair Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping.

Indah expressed confidence about their approach. “For me, it’s about playing more relaxed and showing our abilities. If we keep working hard, we can give our best,” she said after the match.

This win not only boosts their momentum but also keeps Indonesia’s hopes alive in the mixed doubles category at one of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments. ***
