RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia secured a podium finish at the World Climbing Series Madrid 2026 after speed climber Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi won the silver medal in the men’s speed event in Alcobendas, Spain, on Monday morning, June 1, 2026.

Robby finished second in the gold-medal race after clocking 4.81 seconds, narrowly behind China’s Shuhong Chu, who claimed the title with a time of 4.75 seconds, Antara reported.

The Indonesian climber delivered a strong performance throughout the knockout rounds. He opened the finals with a 4.91-second run to defeat China’s Ziyu Zhou in the round of 16.

In the quarterfinals, Robby advanced after posting 5.27 seconds, comfortably ahead of American climber Michael Hom, who recorded 6.60 seconds.

The semifinal proved to be his closest contest, with Robby clocking 4.72 seconds to edge past American competitor Zach Hammer by just 0.06 seconds and secure a place in the final.

Robby was Indonesia’s only medal winner at the event. Fellow Indonesian climbers Veddriq Leonardo and Raharjati Nursamsa were unable to progress deep into the men’s speed finals.

Veddriq was eliminated in the round of 16 after suffering a fall against Italy’s Matteo Zurloni, while Raharjati reached the quarterfinals before falling during his race against China’s Jie Yang.

In the women’s speed competition, all three Indonesian representatives advanced to the finals, but none reached the podium. Rajiah Sallsabillah made it to the quarterfinals, while Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Berthidgna Devi Surya Kusuma were both eliminated in the round of 16.

Berthidgna recorded 6.83 seconds but was beaten by American climber Emma Hunt, who later won the gold medal with a time of 6.24 seconds.

Indonesian Sport Climbing Association (FPTI) sent seven speed climbers to compete in Madrid, including four men and three women, with Robby’s silver medal providing the country’s best result at the competition. ***
