RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team has unveiled a 23-man roster for the June 2026 FIFA Matchday, with the inclusion of young defender Mathew Baker drawing attention as one of the notable surprises.

Baker, who has mostly featured at youth level, is set to step into the senior squad as a potential replacement for injured captain Jay Idzes, Antara reported..

Under coach John Herdman, the Garuda squad will face Oman on June 5 and Mozambique on June 9 at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

The announcement has sparked discussion not only over Idzes’ absence due to a heel injury but also the omission of several familiar names.

Veteran figures such as Jordi Amat and Eliano Reijnders, along with rising defender Tim Geypens, were left out of the list, signaling a reshuffle in the team’s composition.

Herdman’s decision is seen as part of a broader effort to refresh the squad and test new combinations ahead of upcoming international commitments.
