RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Six Indonesian national sport climbing athletes advanced to the speed finals at the World Climbing Series Madrid in Spain on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The achievement came after the athletes successfully navigated a highly competitive qualification round held in Alcobendas, Madrid.
According to an official report from the Indonesian Sport Climbing Association (FPTI), three Indonesian male climbers secured places in the final round.
The athletes are Veddriq Leonardo, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, and Raharjati Nursamsa. All three delivered impressive performances throughout the men’s speed qualification event.
Veddriq finished fourth in the standings with a best time of 4.92 seconds. Antasyafi placed 10th after recording a best time of 5.04 seconds. Raharjati secured the final qualifying spot in 16th place with a best time of 5.13 seconds.
Meanwhile, Aditya Tri Syahria failed to advance after finishing 27th with a time of 5.34 seconds.
Unlike the men’s team, all Indonesian female representatives progressed to the finals. The three climbers successfully finished among the top 16 in the women’s speed event.
They are Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Rajiah Salsabillah, and young athlete Berthdigna Devi Surya Kusuma.
Desak Made secured fourth place with a best time of 6.58 seconds. Rajiah ranked ninth after posting a time of 6.81 seconds, while Berthdigna advanced in 16th place with a best time of 7.07 seconds.
All final-round matches were scheduled to take place on the same day. Sport climbing fans could watch the competition live through the World Climbing YouTube channel.
The seven Indonesian sport climbing athletes departed for Madrid on May 27, 2026. The delegation was tasked with achieving better results than in the previous World Climbing Series event. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
