Indonesia’s Fajar/Fikri Storm into Singapore Open 2026 Final

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri have secured a coveted place in the final of the Singapore Open 2026. The third-seeded duo advanced after defeating China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in a spectacular semifinal clash.

Fajar/Fikri sealed the victory in straight games, winning 23-21, 21-4 in just 37 minutes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang on Saturday, May 30.

The opening game was fiercely contested, with both pairs locked in relentless point chases that pushed the match into a deuce. The Indonesian duo held their composure in the critical moments, clinching the first game 23-21.

“I’m definitely happy and grateful to have won. The first game wasn’t easy because there were a lot of points to chase. They were very strong at the net. Winning the setting shootout was the key to the match,” Fajar Alfian said after the match.

He added that the windy court conditions disrupted the Chinese pair’s rhythm, a disadvantage the Indonesians capitalized on.

The second game unfolded in stark contrast, as Fajar/Fikri dominated from the outset with an unanswered 12-point streak. The commanding lead shattered their opponents’ momentum, allowing the Indonesians to cruise to a decisive 21-4 win.

Muhammad Shohibul Fikri stressed that maintaining focus was crucial despite the huge lead. “We didn’t want to lose momentum even though we were so far ahead. That’s why we kept pressing until the end,” he said.

In the final, Fajar/Fikri will face India’s top doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The Indonesians have vowed to deliver their best performance in pursuit of the prestigious championship title. (Naura Sofia)
