RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian shuttler Jonatan Christie bowed out of the Singapore Open 2026 after a hard-fought battle against India’s H.S. Prannoy in the round of 32. Popularly known as “Jojo,” Jonatan was defeated in a rubber game that lasted just over an hour.

The match took place on Wednesday afternoon, May 27, at Court 1 of the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Prannoy prevailed in three games, winning 10-21, 21-12, 21-18, sending Jonatan home earlier than expected from the tournament.

In the opening game, Jojo dominated, leading 11-5 at the interval before closing it out convincingly at 21-10. However, momentum shifted in the second game, as Prannoy surged ahead 11-7 at the break and maintained control. Jojo trailed 11-18 before eventually losing 12-21, forcing the decider.

The third game was tightly contested. Jonatan trailed narrowly 10-11 at the interval but rallied to level at 13-13 and even took a 18-16 lead. Yet Prannoy responded with five consecutive points, sealing the match 21-18 and securing his place in the next round. (Diva Rifdah)
