Indonesia Eyes Redemption at World Climbing Series Madrid 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - After a challenging outing in Wujiang, China, the Indonesian climbing team is determined to bounce back and look for redemption as they head into the World Climbing Series Madrid 2026, staged in Alcobendas, Spain, from May 28–31.

The Indonesian Federation of Sport Climbing (FPTI) has confirmed a squad of 11 athletes competing across two disciplines -- speed and boulder -- with hopes of improving on their previous results, Antara reported.

According to the official roster, nine athletes will contest the speed category, while two will represent the nation in boulder.

• Boulder: Ravianto Ramadhan, Rivandi Ramadhan
• Men’s Speed: Raharjati Nursamsa, Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, Aditya Tri Syahria, Veddriq Leonardo, Kiromal Katibin
• Women’s Speed: Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Kadek Adi Asih, Rajiah Sallsabillah, Berthidgna Devi Surya Kusuma

The Madrid series is seen as a crucial test following Wujiang, where Indonesia’s medal hopes rested solely on Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi. The women’s speed specialist delivered bronze, the team’s only podium finish, while the men’s squad fell short.

That outcome has become both a lesson and a source of motivation. “The key now is to perform more competitively and prove we can rise to the challenge,” officials noted.

With elite global climbers expected in Madrid, the event is set to be one of the season’s highlights in both speed and boulder. For Indonesia, it represents not only a chance to measure progress but also an opportunity to raise the Red-and-White flag on the world stage once again. ***
