RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Working Meeting of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) 2026 was officially opened by the Vice Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Taufik Hidayat, in West Jakarta, on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The two-day event served as a strategic forum to align the national sports agenda between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Central KONI, regional KONI, and sports federations to strengthen the development and improvement of Indonesian athletes' achievements.

In his speech, Taufik Hidayat, emphasized the importance of synergy among all national sports stakeholders in creating sustainable and high-achieving athlete development.

"We are one big family of sports." The Ministry of Youth and Sports respects both the central and regional KONI, the Indonesian Olympic Committee, and all sports federations. Thru this forum, let us together have the same goal, which is to produce outstanding athletes who can bring honor to the nation," Taufik said.

He also highlighted the importance of sports as an instrument of diplomacy amid the ever-evolving global geopolitical dynamics. "Many countries today use sports as a tool of diplomacy and a symbol of national strength. Indonesia must also share the same spirit. The challenge will feel lighter if all elements of sports unite to improve the quality of national sports down to the grassroots level," he said.

The 2026 KONI National Working Meeting was attended by the ranks of the Central KONI management, regional KONI, sports branch associations, and national sports stakeholders from various regions in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of KONI Pusat, Marciano Norman, stated that the Rakernas is an important momentum to improve the quality of sports organizations' services to the government, athletes, and the entire national sports community.

"This National Working Meeting is an effort by KONI to provide the best service to the government, athletes, and all sports enthusiasts in Indonesia." "This forum also serves as a step to elaborate on national sports policies in accordance with the President's mandate thru the fourth Asta Cita," he conveyed.

In addition to the meeting agenda and work program discussions, the KONI 2026 National Working Meeting was also enlivened by the awarding of outstanding sports figures and an Extraordinary National Sports Congress to determine the host of the 2032 National Sports Week (PON).
