Indonesia’s Men’s Doubles Coach Sets Bold Target for Indonesia Open 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s badminton men’s doubles coach Antonius Budi Ariantho has set a clear mandate for his players: winning the Indonesia Open 2026 is non-negotiable.

“Harus juara--they must be champions,” Antonius told reporters in Jakarta recently, underscoring the team’s ambitions ahead of the prestigious BWF Super 1000 tournament scheduled for June 2–7, 2026, at Istora Senayan.

Indonesia will field top pairs including Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.

To sharpen preparations, Antonius confirmed that Fajar/Fikri and Raymond/Joaquin will compete at the Singapore Open next week, a strategic move to restore form after a long break.

Meanwhile, Leo/Daniel have been granted rest following back-to-back appearances at the Thailand Open and Malaysia Masters earlier this month.

“We’re sending two pairs to Singapore--Joaquin/Raymond and Fajar/Fikri. After returning from the Thomas Cup, we had two weeks to maintain their condition. Hopefully, they’ll peak at the Indonesia Open,” Antonius explained. ***
