RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi continued her strong clay-court season by reaching the women’s doubles quarterfinals at the 2026 Morocco Open alongside former Grand Slam champion Vera Zvonareva on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Competing in the opening round of the WTA 250 tournament in Rabat, the top-seeded duo defeated Kazakhstan’s Zhibek Kulambayeva and Argentina’s Nicole Fossa Huergo 6-1, 6-1 in a one-sided contest, Antara reported.
Aldila and Zvonareva delivered a composed performance, committing only two double faults compared to their opponents’ four. Their dominance was particularly evident on serve throughout the match.
According to WTA statistics released Tuesday, Aldila and Zvonareva landed 76 percent of their first serves and won 75 percent of points behind their first serve. They also claimed 71 percent of points on their second serve.
The numbers were significantly higher than those of Kulambayeva and Fossa Huergo, who recorded 69 percent on first serves, while winning only 38 percent and 33 percent of points on first and second serves respectively.
The convincing victory sends Aldila and Zvonareva into the quarterfinals, where they will face American sisters Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley.
The Morocco Open marks Aldila’s third clay-court tournament of the season following appearances at the 2026 Madrid Open and Italian Open.
Earlier this year, Aldila partnered fellow Indonesian Janice Tjen at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open, where they reached the quarterfinals before losing to veteran pair Zvonareva and Laura Siegemund.
Aldila and Janice were later eliminated in the opening round of the WTA 1000 Rome event after falling to Coco Gauff and Caty McNally. Janice, who entered the 2026 Morocco Open singles draw as the top seed, also advanced to the second round after defeating Swedish qualifier Cajsa Hennemann 6-1, 7-5. ***
