RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia will field a strong men’s singles contingent at the Malaysia Masters 2026, highlighted by the long-awaited return of Anthony Sinisuka Ginting after a three-year absence from the tournament.

According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Ginting has been promoted directly into the main draw following the withdrawal of top seeds Shi Yu Qi and Anders Antonsen. The Super 500 event takes place in Kuala Lumpur from May 19–24.

For Ginting, once ranked world No. 2, the Malaysia Masters marks another step in his comeback journey after injury setbacks. His last appearance came in 2023, when he exited in the round of 16 against China’s Weng Hong Yang (19-21, 15-21).

The Cimahi-born shuttler first competed at the tournament in 2015, with his best run in 2017 reaching the semifinals before losing to Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus. This year, he opens against Malaysian hopeful Justin Hoh on Wednesday, May 20, Antara reported.

The reshuffled seedings also elevate Jonatan Christie to the top spot in men’s singles, replacing Shi Yu Qi. Christie begins his campaign against Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen.

Indonesia’s lineup is further strengthened by Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah and Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo. Ubaidillah faces India’s Lakshya Sen in the first round, while Prahdiska meets South Korea’s Jeon Hyeok Jin.
