RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Woodball Federation Executive Board (PB IWbA) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the country’s dominance in global rankings. The pledge was made during its 2026 Annual Members’ Meeting, held at the Indonesian Olympic Committee headquarters in Senayan, Jakarta.

The federation’s current priority is strengthening athlete regeneration programs to nurture young talent capable of excelling internationally. On Tuesday, May 12, PB IWbA presented data showing alignment between national and regional work programs.

PB IWbA Chairman Aang Sunadji emphasized that collaboration across regions is vital to producing future champions. The meeting carried the theme “Strong Regeneration, Great Achievements” to underline this mission.

“Many young athletes are ready to compete at world championships. We must ensure Indonesia’s woodball success continues without interruption,” Aang said.

Indonesia currently boasts several top-ranked players. On the men’s side, Ahris Sumariyanto holds the world’s No. 1 position, followed by Susilo Marga Nugraha and I Putu Ari Kuncoro. Among women, Siti Masitah leads the global rankings, with Finda Tri Setianingrum in second place.

PB IWbA also plans to propose standardized competition fields at the upcoming International Woodball Federation General Assembly in Taiwan this November.

“Clear standards are essential to ensure fairness, especially when dealing with uneven playing surfaces. We will raise this issue internationally, so results are fair for all,” Aang explained.

Indonesian Olympic Committee Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari praised the federation’s achievements and highlighted the importance of international diplomacy to push woodball into the Asian Games.

“Woodball may not yet be widely known, but it consistently delivers international success. This proves the federation is working effectively. We must remain proactive, both in athlete development and global advocacy, to safeguard Indonesia’s interests,” Okto said. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
