Goverment Applauds National Karate Athletes at KWU SENSHI Tournament

RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo – The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has praised the achievements of two Indonesian karate athletes who won awards at the 1st Kyokushin World Union (KWU) SENSHI Japan International Tournament in Tokyo, Japan. In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Indonesian Karate Team secured podium finishes at the tournament held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium 2nd Stadium, Tokyo, on April 29, 2026.

Karate athlete Gabriel Constantine Nangin won second place in the High School Boys (HSB) under-60 kilogram category, while Jemima Rumiza Diovani finished third in the women’s under-55 kilogram division. Both athletes represented Shidokan Indonesia.

Coordinator for Socio-Cultural Information at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, expressed appreciation for the achievements of the two athletes, saying they had brought pride to Indonesia on the international stage.

“This is a proud achievement from two Indonesian karate athletes who successfully brought honor to Indonesia at this event,” Al Aula said while receiving a visit from the Indonesian Karate Team from Shidokan Indonesia.

According to him, the accomplishment marks a positive milestone for Indonesian karate athletes in Japan’s Kyokushin arena and is expected to become the beginning of further success in future world championships.

He added that the participation of Indonesian athletes could also open opportunities for future cooperation, including joint training programs between countries, particularly with Japan.

Al Aula also stated that the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo would continue to provide full support for Indonesian athletes participating in various international competitions in Japan, both in sports and other fields.

“This is certainly part of promoting Indonesia in Japan and globally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shidokan Indonesia spokesperson, Randy Tumewa, expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo to Indonesian athletes.

He hoped the athletes would continue improving their achievements while sharing their experiences with other promising athletes in Indonesia.

In the final match, Gabriel Constantine Nangin was defeated by a Japanese athlete and secured second place. Jemima Rumiza Diovani finished third after competing against an athlete from Argentina.

The international tournament featured participants from at least eight countries besides Japan.
