RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian national esports team is set to make its mark on the regional stage as the country prepares to compete in the inaugural SEA Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026, scheduled for May 7–9, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The official send‑off ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 6, by the Indonesian Esports Central Executive Board (PB ESI) through its National Team Agency (BTN) Esports.
BTN chief Wishnu Buddhaya emphasized that every athlete selected represents the outcome of a structured qualification process designed to form a competitive national squad.
“All athletes departing are the result of rigorous selection and qualification. They are the official squad representing Indonesia at the SEA Esports Nations Cup 2026,” Wishnu stated in a written release from Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.
The Indonesian team will compete against Southeast Asian nations in several categories, including PUBG Mobile (Solo and Duo), Teamfight Tactics, and Crossfire: Legends.
The ENC, organized for the first time by the Southeast Asia Esports Federation (SEAEF), has been positioned as a key fixture in Indonesia’s 2026 esports calendar.
Participation in the tournament is seen as a strategic step to elevate national achievements at the regional level, aligning with PB ESI’s vision of Esports Indonesia Mendunia (Easport Indonesia Goes Global). It also serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration across Southeast Asia’s esports ecosystem.
Wishnu noted that athletes competing in Teamfight Tactics had already advanced through qualification rounds organized by the event committee, ensuring Indonesia’s representation was fully official.
He also extended appreciation to Ferdinand Angelo Wijaya, one of the Indonesian qualifiers, for his dedication and commitment throughout the process.
PB ESI further acknowledged adjustments made by organizers, including the removal of Ayodance from the competition lineup. Despite this, Wishnu praised the readiness and commitment of athletes, coaches, publishers, and the wider community who supported the national selection process.
“We are proud of the dedication and preparedness of all athletes, including those from Ayodance, who continued to show full commitment despite the changes,” Wishnu said. ***
