RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s push to expand female participation in motorsport is gaining momentum as eight women racers take to the track at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit for the Mandalika Kartini Race 2026.

Held from May 1-3, 2026, in West Nusa Tenggara, the all-women racing event is positioned as a platform to nurture emerging talent while reinforcing Mandalika’s status as a global sport tourism destination.

“This event is an important part of encouraging a resurgence in national motorsport,” said Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) President Director Priandhi Satria on Friday, May 1, as quoted by Antara.

“We want to inspire more women racers and strengthen this circuit’s role as a world-class venue,” he added.

Among the standout participants are Vivit Fariana and her daughter, Patricia Revalina Purnomo, who are embracing a new challenge by competing on a permanent asphalt circuit for the first time.

For the duo, who are more familiar with gravel-based disciplines such as drag racing and rally, the transition to Mandalika’s high-speed and technical layout marks a significant step in their motorsport journey.

“This is our first time racing at Mandalika, and it feels really exciting. It’s a new experience for us,” she said.

Vivit added that their participation is driven by a desire to explore new challenges. “We usually race on gravel, but now we’re trying the Mandalika circuit because it’s incredibly exciting,” she added.

Beyond competition, their involvement carries a broader message about inclusivity in motorsport. Both Vivit and Patricia emphasized that racing should not be seen as a male-dominated field.

“Motorsport is not just for men, it’s for anyone who has the interest,” Vivit said, encouraging more women to pursue racing in safe and professional environments like official circuits rather than public roads.

Organizers hope events like the Mandalika Kartini Race 2026 will play a key role in developing interest and talent among Indonesian women racers. ***
