RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s badminton team is bracing for a tough challenge against host nation Denmark in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Uber Cup, set to take place at Forum Horsens on Thursday evening, April 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. local time.

Team captain Putri Kusuma Wardani acknowledged Denmark’s balanced strength, particularly in the singles category, and stressed the importance of staying sharp from the very first match.

“Denmark’s singles players have good skills and abilities. We cannot underestimate them and must remain vigilant,” she said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Thursday, April 30, as quoted by Antara.

Putri emphasized that Indonesia must play with full spirit and determination throughout the tie. She confirmed that all players are in peak condition following their final training session. “Everyone has prepared well. Whoever is fielded tomorrow will be the best option and ready to fight,” she added.

Putri also noted that Denmark’s home crowd could provide an extra boost for the hosts, urging her teammates to stay focused regardless of the atmosphere.

Indonesian singles coach Imam Tohari highlighted the importance of the opening singles match in shaping the team’s chances. He predicted Denmark would field Mia Blichfeldt against Putri Kusuma Wardani.

“The first singles is key for us. Denmark’s strength lies in their three singles players, who regularly compete at Super 500 tournaments and above. But I hope we can secure at least two points,” Imam said.

He cautioned that past head-to-head records, including Putri’s loss to Blichfeldt in the 2025 Hylo Open final, should not be seen as decisive since team events carry a different dynamic.

The Indonesia–Denmark clash is one of four quarterfinals. Elsewhere, China faces Malaysia, Japan meets Thailand, and South Korea takes on Taiwan. Should Indonesia advance, they will meet the winner of the South Korea–Taiwan tie in the semifinals.

With Denmark enjoying home advantage and Indonesia determined to defend its standing, the quarterfinal promises to be a high-intensity battle that could set the tone for the Garuda squad’s campaign in the tournament. ***
