RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian rising climbing talent Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, has already looked beyond the podium at the 2026 Asian Beach Games, setting his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after securing silver in the men’s speed relay at the Games.

Antasyafi, who partnered with Raharjati Nursamsa, said the result in Sanya, China, has become a key motivation to push further on the international stage.

“Hopefully we can continue to develop and make it to the Olympics,” he said after the final at the Tianya Haijiao Venue Cluster on Wednesday night, April 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He described the silver medal as an important stepping stone to improve performance and prepare for tougher global competition.

“Going forward, we want to be more consistent and able to compete at a higher level,” he added, emphasizing the value of international experience in building both skill and mental strength.

Raharjati echoed the sentiment, acknowledging greater challenges ahead while remaining optimistic about future achievements. “This result motivates us to keep performing and win more medals in the future,” he said.

The Indonesian pair delivered an impressive run throughout the tournament before narrowly missing gold in the final. They clocked 9.80 seconds but were edged by China’s Jianguo Long and Yicheng Zhao, who finished 0.05 seconds faster at 9.75 seconds.

Their path to the final included a dominant semifinal victory over Kazakhstan’s Rashid and Rishat Khaibullin, where they recorded 10.34 seconds against their opponents’ 12.12 seconds.

They also topped the qualification round earlier that day, underlining their consistency from the start of the competition.

Indonesia fielded eight speed climbers at the event, evenly split between men and women, competing in both individual and relay categories against athletes from China, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan.

Overall, Indonesian climbing team concluded the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 with one gold and two silver medals. ***
