RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian sport climbing team delivered a strong performance at the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, with four pairs advancing to the final round of the speed relay event on Wednesday afternoon, April 29, in China.
According to official statistics, the qualifiers include two men’s pairs and two women’s pairs. In the men’s category, Raharjati Nursamsa/Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi dominated the field with the fastest overall time of 10.14 seconds, topping the qualification standings at the Tianya Haijiao Venue Cluster.
The second men’s pair, Aditya Tri Syahria/Ramaski Aswin Kristanto, secured fifth place with a best time of 10.89 seconds, Antara reported.
On the women’s side, Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi/Kadek Adi Asih finished fourth with 14.27 seconds, while Puja Lestari/Amanda Narda Mutia placed sixth at 15.20 seconds. All four pairs are confirmed for the final eight, scheduled later the same day at 7 p.m. local time.
The Indonesian Sport Climbing Federation (FPTI) sent a total of eight athletes -- four men and four women -- to compete in both individual speed and speed relay categories. They are competing against strong contenders from China, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan.
In the relay format, climbers ascend in sequence: the first athlete starts, reaches the top, and presses the timer, immediately triggering the next climber’s run. The clock continues without reset, and the cumulative time from start to finish determines the winner. The team with the lowest total time claims victory.
With four pairs advancing, Indonesia has positioned itself as a serious contender in the finals, keeping hopes alive for podium finishes in one of the sport’s most dynamic and high-pressure events. ***
