Garbha Presisi Police Taekwondo Wins Overall Championship in Japan

RRI.CO.ID. Osaka, Japan - The Garbha Presisi Polri Taekwondo Team won the overall championship at the 22nd WATA Open International Taekwondo Championship 2026, held at the Ohama Arena Sakai, Osaka, on Sunday, April 27, 2026.
The Polri contingent, comprised of 15 top athletes, performed dominantly from the first to the second day of competition, winning a total of 21 medals, consisting of 14 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. This achievement placed the Garbha Presisi Polri Taekwondo Team at the top of the final standings, surpassing competitors from various countries.
The Garbha Presisi Polri Taekwondo Team's dominance was evident in various competitions, both in the poomsae and kyorugi categories, demonstrating the athletes' technical, physical, and mental readiness to compete.
Regarding this spectacular achievement, the Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner General of Police. Dedi Prasetyo, emphasized that since the inauguration of the National Police Sports Committee (KOP) in 2024, the development of Polri athletes has become more focused and sustainable.
The KOP was inaugurated by Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in May 2024, as a forum for the Police personnel with talent and achievements in sports.
"The establishment of the Polri Sports Committee in 2024 serves as a forum and system to ensure the development and guarantee of the rights of high-achieving Polri athletes," the Deputy Chief of Police said.
Meanwhile, Taekwondo Team Official, M. Rustam Febrianzah, stated that this success is the result of the hard work, discipline, and thorough preparation of all athletes and the coaching team.
Support from the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Si., received full appreciation from the Indonesian National Police Sports Committee for his consistent attention and commitment to providing the widest possible opportunity for all Polri personnel to excel in sports.
This support serves as strong motivation for the athletes to continue improving their skills and achieving the best results at the international level, particularly in taekwondo.
The Deputy Chief of Polri also congratulated all athletes on their achievements in taekwondo and other competitive sports. He emphasized that the Polri Sports Committee will continue to support talent development and athlete development to encourage improved performance at the international level and strengthen public support for the Police.
This success is not only a source of pride for the Polri institution, but also brings honor to Indonesia on the global stage and strengthens Indonesia's position in the international sport of taekwondo.
