RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - An Indonesian police officer has brought international recognition to his region after securing three gold medals at a major taekwondo championship in Japan, underscoring the growing presence of Indonesian athletes on the global stage.
An athlete from the Pesisir Barat Police (Pesibar), Lampung, South Sumatera, achieved the feat at The 22nd WATA Open Taekwondo International Championship 2026, held from April 24-27 at Ohama Arena, Osaka, Japan.
Pesisir Barat Police Chief Adj. Sr. Com. Bestiana praised the achievement, noting it reflects not only personal excellence but also institutional pride.
“We are very proud of the achievement by Second Police Brig. (Bripda) Muhammad Rizky Prasetya. This proves that the National Police personnel are capable not only in carrying out police duties, but also excelling in sports at the international level,” he said on Monday, April 27, as quoted by Antara.
At the championship, Bripda Muhammad Rizky Prasetya delivered standout performances, winning gold in three categories: Individual Poomsae Male U30 Intermediate, Pair Poomsae No Age Limit Intermediate, and Team Poomsae No Age Limit Advance.
“This success is a source of pride not only for the Pesisir Barat Police, but also for Indonesia on the international stage,” Bestiana added.
He emphasized that the achievement reflects hard work, discipline, and strong dedication, and expressed hope that it would inspire other personnel to develop their potential both professionally and beyond.
“With this accomplishment, we hope the name of Pesisir Barat Police will shine even brighter and inspire the younger generation to achieve at national and international levels,” he concluded. ***
