RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s doubles pair Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi delivered a strong performance to reach the round of 16 at the Madrid Open 2026, securing a convincing straight-sets victory in Madrid.
Facing Marta Kostyuk and Clara Tauson, the Indonesian duo won 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) on the clay courts of Caja Magica on Thursday night, April 2 3, 2026, according to the WTA.
In the first set, Tjen/Sutjiadi played solidly and controlled the match to take it 6-3, Antara reported. In the second set, Kostyuk/Tauson raised their level and forced a tie-break, but the Indonesian pair remained dominant to seal the win 7-1 in the decider.
With this result, Tjen/Sutjiadi secured a place in the last 16 and will face the winner of the match between Eri Hozumi/Fang-Hsien Wu and sixth seeds Cristina Bucșa/Nicole Melichar-Martinez, scheduled for Friday, April 25.
Earlier, Tjen also recorded a positive result in singles, advancing to the second round after defeating Alina Charaeva in her opening match on Wednesday, April 22, at Court 7, Caja Magica.
