The men’s duo Bintang Akbar/Sofyan Rachman Efendi set the tone with a dominant 2–0 win over Timor Leste’s Joel Savio Valente/Joninho Fernandes Xavier in Group C. They controlled the first set 21–14 before overwhelming their opponents 21–8 in the second, Antara reported.
Their success was quickly matched by the women’s pair Nur Atika Sari/Josephine Selvina Anasthasya Kaize, who cruised past Maldives’ Mariyam/Ishag in Group F. The Indonesians swept the first set 21–1 and sealed the match 21–6 in the second, leaving little room for resistance.

Indonesia has fielded six athletes in total for the beach volleyball competition. Alongside the winning pairs, Fairuz Bayhaqly/Imam Ahmad Faisal will open their Group E campaign against Thailand’s Muadphal/Muneekul on Friday, April 24. ***
