RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is preparing to host one of the world’s largest senior badminton tournaments, the Hundred Hoo Haa Cup 2026, which will take place from June 12–14 in Tangerang, expected to have more than 3,000 participants from across the globe.
Tournament Director Marlev Mainaky said enthusiasm has been overwhelming since registration opened on February 1. “The response has been very strong, both domestically and internationally,” he noted during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The competition will feature age categories ranging from 35 to 70 years, covering men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. In addition, special formats such as 3-on-3, combined age, VVIP, and the OPEN MAX.35 category -- open to players under 35 -- will add variety to the event.
Participants have already registered from countries including Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Canada, China, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Colombia, India, and several African nations.
Co-founder Marcia Hutagalung emphasized the tournament’s role in providing senior players with a platform to continue their badminton journey. “This event is a momentum for players to keep competing in a structured way,” she said.
Marketing and Promotion Manager at PT Mentari Cemerlang Indonesia, Sharan Kumar, said that the tournament could strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global badminton hub. “We see this as an important platform to reinforce Indonesia’s role in the sport,” he explained.
Registration closes on May 24, with the participant list announced on May 26, the draw on June 2, and the technical meeting scheduled for June 11.
Adding to the excitement, Indonesian badminton legends such as Hariyanto Arbi, Flandy Limpele, and Bobby Ertanto are expected to attend, while side events including food bazaars and entertainment will round out the festivities. ***
