RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is fielding a compact but mixed-experience squad for the Asian Beach Games 2026 in Sanya, China, balancing performance goals with budget constraints while preparing athletes for larger regional competitions.

With a total of 22 athletes, the squad sets to compete across three sports -- 3x3 basketball (eight athletes), beach volleyball (six), and sport climbing (eight) -- in a lineup that combines senior figures and rising talents to maintain competitiveness while fostering regeneration, Antara reported.

In the 3x3 basketball, the men’s team includes senior player Ebrahim Lopez Enguio alongside younger athletes such as Halmaheranno Aprianto Lolaru Hady and Jonathan Patrick Ale.

The women’s team is strengthened by experienced player Kimberley Perre-Louis Berlian, joined by rising talents including Yesi Tri Utari, Diva Intan Nur Fadillah, and Angelica Jennifer Candra.

Beach volleyball fields key players such as Bintang Akbar, Sofyan Rahman Efendi, Imam Ahmad Faisal, and Fairuz Bayhaqly in the men’s sector, while the women’s team relies on the duo of Josephine Selvina Anasthasya Kaize and Nur Atika Sari.

In sport climbing, Indonesia is represented by Olympian Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, who recently won gold in the women’s speed climbing event at the Asian Climbing Championship 2026. The team also includes promising young climbers such as Kadek Adi Asih and Anasyafi Robby Al Hilmi.

Earlier, during the official send-off ceremony by the Indonesian Olympic Committee in Jakarta, Chef de Mission Krisna Bayu said the athletes were selected through a strict process based on performance criteria.

He added that the size of the contingent was adjusted to available budget support to ensure athletes can compete safely and effectively with adequate preparation.

Krisna expressed hope that both experienced and young athletes can deliver strong performances, raise the Indonesian flag, and bring pride to the nation on the Asian stage. ***
