RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh off a record-breaking win, Indonesia’s Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi is targeting another podium at the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026 after claiming gold and a 6.07-second Asian record at the Asian Climbing Championship 2026.
“There is no specific target from the federation, but personally I definitely want to reach the podium,” she said during the send-off ceremony for the Indonesian contingent in Jakarta on Monday, April 20, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The Bali-born athlete will compete alongside seven teammates in sport climbing at the Beach Games in Hainan, China, scheduled for April 25-28. Indonesia is sending a total of 22 athletes across three sports: 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, and sport climbing.
Desak described the event as part of broader preparations for the Asian Games 2026, saying she aims to enjoy the competition while delivering her best performance. “I want to compete freely and achieve maximum results,” she said.
While she has yet to identify her toughest rivals, Desak acknowledged that athletes from participating countries continue to improve their times, making the competition increasingly tight. She said the beach games will serve as an opportunity to gauge the strength of potential opponents ahead of the Asian Games. ***
