RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s singles player Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah is counting down the days to his first appearance at the prestigious Thomas Cup, set to take place in Horsens, Denmark, from April 24 to May 3, 2026.

Known affectionately as Ubed, the 15-year-old shuttler joins a strong Indonesian singles lineup alongside Jonatan Christie, Alwi Farhan, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

“The Thomas Cup feels more prestigious than the Sudirman Cup or SEA Games. I never expected to be part of this team,” Ubed said in a statement released by The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He expressed determination to contribute whenever given the chance. “I want to give my best for Indonesia. I can’t wait for my debut,” he added.

After two days of training, Ubed said his adaptation to the court and environment has gone smoothly, boosting his confidence ahead of the tournament. The young player also highlighted the importance of team chemistry, noting the balance between senior and junior athletes.

“Having seniors around really helps, and with teammates close in age, communication is easier. We’ve already built strong cohesion since training together at Pelatnas,” he explained.

Indonesia, drawn into Group D, will face France, Thailand, and Algeria. Alongside its singles squad, Indonesia fields top doubles pairs including Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and rising duo Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin. ***
