RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian karting prodigy Qarrar Firhand continued his remarkable run in Europe, securing a runner-up finish at the second round of the World Series Karting (WSK) Euro Series 2026 at South Garda Karting International Circuit, Italy, on Saturday, April 18.

The result was enough to keep him firmly at the top of the championship standings. The 15-year-old displayed consistency throughout the weekend, staying among the front-runners from the heats to the prefinal and into the decisive race.

His second-place podium earned him 212 points, strengthening his lead in the overall standings. Qarrar now holds a commanding advantage over Turkey’s Iskender Zulfikari (130 points) and Spain’s Bosco Arias Chavarri (129 points).

“I’m really happy with my performance. Everything went according to plan, and I was able to give my best in every session,” Qarrar said in an official statement released Sunday, April 19, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

His achievement marks a historic milestone, as he becomes the first Indonesian driver to lead the WSK Euro Series, an elite karting competition traditionally dominated by European racers.

With several rounds remaining, including the third race at Cremona Circuit in Italy this July, Qarrar’s chances of clinching the overall title remain wide open.

Beyond karting, his steady performances in the Senior OK category signal readiness for the next stage of his career. He is scheduled to transition to Formula 4 midway through the season, a crucial step toward higher levels of competitive racing.

Behind his success lies consistent support from Pertamina, Indonesia’s state energy company, which has backed his international journey for the past three years. “My focus now is to maintain performance and bring home the overall championship title for Indonesia,” Qarrar concluded. ***
