RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s badminton team is maximizing every available hour in Denmark, combining high-intensity training and strategic preparation to fast-track readiness for the Thomas and Uber Cup 2026 in Horsens.
The team raised training intensity from the first day of camp, citing limited preparation time before the tournament. Women’s singles coach Imam Tohari said the tight schedule left no room to delay heavier sessions.
“Because the time is only a few days, the intensity in this first training session has already increased. We can’t wait until tomorrow or the day after,” Imam said in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Saturday, April 18, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
At Horsens Badminton Club, Fajar Alfian and teammates spent around four hours on court, going through warm-ups, ice-breaking, and technical drills including defensive and attacking patterns.
The approach is designed to accelerate adaptation after the long trip from Jakarta while restoring peak physical condition and performance before competition begins.
Imam added that training focuses on improving shot accuracy and physical endurance, particularly in women’s singles. “The focus is definitely on technical refinement and shot accuracy, while also maintaining physical condition from now until the start of the matches,” he said.
Women’s doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari said the first session was crucial to regaining rhythm. “After the long journey we were able to start training in good condition. The session was intense while adjusting to the environment here,” Febriana said.
Meilysa noted that varied drills helped players regain their touch. “We are still getting our bodies comfortable and finding the feeling again. There were defensive, attacking, and front-court drills without lobs,” she said.

To maximize preparation, the team rented six courts at Horsens Badminton Club from April 18-21 before moving to the competition venue.
Team manager Shendy Puspa Irawati said arriving early allows the squad to train with greater focus and build cohesion. “By arriving earlier in Horsens, we hope preparation can be more focused, with minimal distractions, and stronger team unity,” Shendy said.
Additional support includes psychological assistance and team-building activities to strengthen mental readiness. The team is also staying at the official tournament hotel to avoid disruptions, with access to gym facilities to support training needs.
The Thomas and Uber Cup 2026 will take place from April 24 to May 3 at Forum Horsens in Denmark. ***
