RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s motorsport scene is set for a new chapter as the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Rallycross World Cup 2026 makes its Southeast Asian debut at the Ancol E‑Prix Circuit in North Jakarta on December 5–6.

Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) Chairman Moreno Soeprapto said the event aligns with the character and interests of local automotive fans. “Motorsport keeps evolving in its technology and events. Rallycross is a format that suits Jakarta and the fans here,” Moreno stated on Thursday, April 16, as quoted by Antara.

Rallycross combines asphalt and dirt tracks within a single circuit, offering fast‑paced, dynamic races that are easy for spectators to follow without moving between venues. Moreno noted that this format resonates with Indonesian audiences, who value accessibility and the excitement of watching all the action in one centralized location.

He added that rallycross’s sprint‑style races deliver constant drama and visual appeal, making the sport attractive not only to seasoned motorsport enthusiasts but also to new audiences.

IMI hopes the event will boost national motorsport promotion and spark greater public interest in international racing hosted in Indonesia. “We hope this event will have a positive impact and broaden the reach of motorsport activities in the country,” Moreno said.

The FIA Rallycross World Cup 2026 is part of the federation’s global strategy to expand beyond Europe, with Indonesia chosen as the first Southeast Asian venue. The competition features Euro RX1 and RX3 cars powered by internal combustion engines, racing on mixed‑surface tracks, roughly 60 percent asphalt and 40 percent dirt.

The format ensures aggressive, wheel‑to‑wheel battles that deliver high entertainment value.

For the Jakarta edition, promoter SARGA.CO is working with the Jakarta provincial administration to adapt the Ancol E‑Prix Circuit into an international‑standard rallycross track with a challenging mixed‑surface configuration. ***
