RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Soft Tennis Association (Pesti) has set a target of winning two silver medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The men’s team event and mixed doubles will be the main focus of the Garuda squad to achieve success.

The athletes are currently undergoing an intensive national training camp program to maintain their physical condition on a continuous basis. The training location at the Sultan Hotel area in Senayan, Jakarta, was chosen to support time efficiency.

“Our focus is efficiency and intensity. Athletes do not need to waste time on travel, as all facilities are available within one area,” said Pesti Chairman Awal Chairuddin in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

The early phase of the training camp is dominated by a heavy physical workload before moving on to mastering technical aspects. The coaching team has designed a very tight daily training schedule to achieve maximum readiness ahead of the upcoming Asian Games registration.

Other technical preparations include plans for overseas trips to provide international match experience for young athletes. Secretary General of Pesti Buyung Wijaya Kusuma has prepared a proposal for training activities for players in South Korea.

“This trial is important to build the athletes’ confidence. From there, we can assess their readiness to face real match pressure,” said Buyung.

Indonesian Soft Tennis National Team Manager Ferly Montolalu emphasized that all players must show high dedication to avoid being dropped. Regular evaluations conducted by the management team will determine the players’ continuation in the main national squad list.

“There is no guaranteed position. Everyone must show their best performance. If targets are not met, they can be replaced,” said Ferly.

Direct monitoring continues to observe athletes’ responses to the heavy training load during the six-month national training camp. Coaches Prima Simpatiaji and Gularso Muljadi are leading the technical and physical development of the national team players seriously.

All participants are required to undergo two training sessions, morning and afternoon, on each working day to sharpen their on-court instincts. Physical readiness is a key factor for the national team to compete against strong opponents from Japan and Taiwan.
