RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Organizers of the Polytron Indonesia Open 2026 are preparing to deliver more than just world-class badminton, unveiling plans for a tournament that blends cutting-edge technology with integrated entertainment to elevate the spectator experience.
“This year’s Indonesia Open is designed not only around the matches but also the overall atmosphere outside the court,” Chairman of the tournament's organizing commitee, Achmad Budiharto, said during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The BWF World Tour Super 1000 event will take place at Istora Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta, from June 2–7, featuring top-ranked shuttlers from around the globe. Fans can expect interactive zones and engaging activities beyond the competition, aimed at making the tournament feel like a festival.
To broaden access, organizers are also introducing more affordable ticket prices. “We want badminton lovers from all walks of life to experience the excitement of a world-class tournament firsthand,” Budiharto explained, describing the event as a “people’s badminton celebration”.
Polytron, the title sponsor, is supporting the event with a sustainability-focused approach, including the use of electric vehicles for athlete transport.
“Our support goes beyond sponsorship, it’s a real contribution to building a quality competition ecosystem for Indonesian athletes,” Polytron Commercial Director Tekno Wibowo said.
The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) sees the tournament as a crucial fixture in the global calendar and an opportunity for local athletes to shine at home.
