RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia national futsal team failed to defend its title at the ASEAN Futsal Championship, losing 1-2 to Thailand national futsal team in the final match at Nonthaburi Hall in Bangkok on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Indonesia took the lead through Andres Dwi Persada Putra, but Thailand turned the match around with goals from Itticha Praphaphan and Panut Kittipanuwong, Antara reported, quoting the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

The victory marked Thailand’s 17th ASEAN Futsal Championship title, adding to its long list of wins in 2001, 2003, 2005-2009, 2012-2019, and 2022.

For Indonesia, the defeat meant falling short of retaining the title it won in 2024 after beating Vietnam in the final. Indonesia started the match on the front foot, creating several early chances but failing to convert them into goals. A notable opportunity came from Guntur Ariwibowo, whose shot could not find the net.

Thailand gradually gained control and threatened through attempts such as a shot by Muhammad Osamanmusa, which went wide. Indonesia finally broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Andres Dwi Persada Putra scored after receiving a pass from Adityas Priambudi Wibowo, making it 1-0.

However, Thailand equalized just two seconds before halftime through a penalty converted by Itticha Praphaphan, beating Indonesian goalkeeper Angga Ariansyah.

The second half saw a more balanced contest, with both teams struggling to create clear chances. Thailand took the lead in the 31st minute when Panut Kittipanuwong fired a powerful shot past the Indonesian defense to make it 2-1.

Indonesia responded quickly and nearly equalized through Andarias Kareth, but his effort was saved by Thailand goalkeeper Theerawat Kaewwilai.
