Garuda Pertiwi, under returning coach Satoru Mochizuki, took an early lead in the seventh minute when Claudia Scheunemann converted a penalty.

The spot kick was awarded after Claudia was fouled inside the box in the third minute, with the referee confirming the decision through VAR. Her powerful strike beat goalkeeper Khonde Ruth, who anticipated correctly but could not stop the shot, Antara reported.

Congo quickly responded, equalizing in the 23rd minute through a header from Kanjinga Merveille. Six minutes later, Mawete Flavine put them ahead with another header from a corner.

Indonesia’s situation worsened in first-half stoppage time when Kasaj Mariene scored with a long-range effort, followed by a red card to Safira Ika for a last-player foul.

With a two-goal cushion and numerical advantage, Congo dominated the second half. They added four more goals: Massombo Olga in the 52nd minute, a second strike from Kanjinga in the 59th, Mawete’s second in the 72nd, and Feza Jeannette’s finish in the 82nd.

The defeat means Indonesia will play for third place on Wednesday, April 15, against the loser of the Thailand vs. New Caledonia match.
