RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s young table tennis players delivered a standout performance at the Malacca International Table Tennis Championship, also known as the YB Allex Seah Cup, securing two gold medals and two silvers on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Bukit Serindit Basketball Stadium, Malaysia.

The tournament -- featuring 64 participants in each category from four countries of Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, and host Malaysia -- saw Indonesia dominate the U-19 singles events with all-Indonesian finals in both the men’s and women’s categories, Antara reported.

Mumtaz Alaitsi claimed the U-19 men’s singles title after a hard-fought 3–2 victory over compatriot Dafi Nanda Fahreza. In the women’s singles, Karinza Matahari triumphed with a 3–2 win against fellow Indonesian Huliatilul Asyiroh Mughni.

The Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PTMSI) Chairman Peter Layardi Lay praised the achievement, noting that it reflects the success of Indonesia’s development program.

“We are grateful our athletes reached the top podium in this international event. This shows our training system is on the right track,” he said in a statement.

Central KONI Chairman Marciano Norman also extended his appreciation, calling the victories a motivation for greater achievements.

“This success should inspire us to aim higher. Hopefully, Indonesian table tennis will continue to excel internationally, in both single and multi-event competitions, and even at the Olympic level,” he remarked.

The athletes competing in Malacca were products of the 2025 National Championship in Banjarmasin, underscoring the importance of domestic talent development in building international success. ***
