RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum pulled off a comeback victory to defeat home favorites and fourth seeds Jia Yi Fan/Zhang Shu Xian, advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo.

The Indonesian duo overcame a first-game loss to win 16-21, 21-19, 21-9 in the round of 16, ending a string of previous defeats against the Chinese pair.

“It was definitely not easy. We had lost several times before finally getting revenge, so we are very happy and grateful,” Rachel said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Rachel/Febi had previously lost twice to Jia/Zhang, making the win a significant breakthrough against a top-seeded opponent. Febi said their approach in the match, playing freely and taking risks, proved decisive, especially in the tightly contested second game.

“We were chasing points in the second game, so we tried to play boldly and refused to give up,” she said.

After leveling the match, the Indonesian pair dominated the decider to secure a convincing win.

They will next face Japan’s Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto in the quarterfinals. “For tomorrow, we will try to play like today, stay calm, fight hard, and prepare better physically and mentally,” Febi added. ***
