RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s youthful badminton team is heading into the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) 2026 with optimism and determination, ready to prove themselves on one of the sport’s biggest continental stages.

The tournament, equivalent to a BWF Super 1000 event, will be held from April 7–12 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center in Ningbo, China. Among the fresh faces is women’s singles player Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, who will make her debut at BAC.

“Preparation for BAC feels good, especially since this is my first BAC match, so I’m really excited,” Thalita said in an official statement of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Monday, April 6, 2026., as quoted by Antara.

She explained that her earlier experience at the BATC gave her valuable lessons and confidence. “At BATC, I gained a lot of experience playing against senior players. That gave me the confidence to play more freely and perform better here,” she added.

The men’s doubles sector will also see a debut from the pairing of Devin Artha Wahyudi and Ali Faathir Rayhan. “We are proud and happy to be part of BAC this time,” said Faathir.

“Since this is a Super 1000 level tournament, most of our opponents are above us, so it’s not the same as playing in IC or Super 100," Devin added, saying that being trusted to compete in the event pushed them to prepare even harder than usual.

While the team is largely composed of young talents, Indonesia suffered a setback with the withdrawal of women’s doubles pair Isyana Syahira Meida and Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine. Rinjani was diagnosed with typhoid last week and has not yet returned to full fitness.
