RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s para archer Kholidin delivered a breakthrough performance on the international stage, defeating Paris 2024 Paralympic gold medalist Harvinder Singh of India to win the men’s recurve title at the World Archery Para Series - Bangkok 2026.

Kholidin secured the gold medal with a 7-3 victory in the final, marking one of his strongest performances internationally. He said the win over a reigning Paralympic champion was a special moment that boosted his confidence ahead of future competitions.

“It feels incredible to beat Singh, who is a Paralympic gold medalist,” Kholidin said in an official statement on Sunday, April 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara, adding that the result would motivate him to continue improving as he prepares for major upcoming events.

“Thank you for all the support and prayers. Hopefully this will be a steppingstone to become even better at the Asian Para Games 2026 and the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics,” he added.

In addition to his individual gold, Kholidin also contributed to Indonesia’s success in the mixed recurve team event, partnering Riyanti Ananda to win gold after defeating Thailand’s Phattharaphon Pattawaeo/Hanreuchai Netsiri 6-2 in the final.

Indonesia also secured a bronze medal in the men’s individual recurve event through Setiawan.

Riyanti Ananda emerged as another standout performer, winning two gold medals and one bronze on her international debut. She claimed gold in the women’s recurve team with Noviera Ross and in the mixed recurve team with Kholidin, along with a bronze in the women’s individual recurve.

Indonesia added a silver medal through Arif Firmansyah/Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly in the mixed compound event.

Overall, Indonesia collected three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, finishing second in the final standings behind India, which topped the table with seven gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

The results in Bangkok provide valuable momentum for Indonesia’s para archery team ahead of major events, including the 2026 Asian Para Games and qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic. ***
