RRI.CO.ID, Bekasi - The Indonesian National Climbing Team is set to compete in the 2026 World Climbing Asian Championships in Meishan, China, from April 8 to 12. Sixteen elite athletes will vie for medals and a chance to qualify for the 2026 Asian Games.

Speed Climbing Coach of the Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI), Galar Pandu Asmoro, confirmed the team’s readiness. He said training has focused on building physical endurance and strengthening mental resilience to prepare athletes for international competition.

“We are improving several aspects of the athletes, including their physical and mental well-being,” Galar said during a training session at the FPTI Training Center in Bekasi City on Friday, April 3, 2026.

A team of professional psychologists has joined the training camp to help athletes maintain composure during the championship. The training center's atmosphere is designed to foster a positive, competitive environment.

“To further enhance the athletes’ mental health, we have psychologists working with us. They were part of the team before, but their role was not fully utilized under the previous coach,” Galar explained.

He added that he has not faced major obstacles in coaching the athletes, noting that they already possess advanced technical skills and extensive experience from previous competitions.

Athlete Antasyafi Robby expressed confidence, saying his physical fitness has reached peak condition. Daily training sessions are conducted using modern methodologies to ensure optimal performance.

“Our preparation is almost 100 percent because we train every day. The new program also follows the latest trends. The training atmosphere is great because my teammates are outstanding athletes,” Antasyafi said.

Meanwhile, athlete Kadek Asih reported that her readiness level has reached 90 percent. She is focusing on refining her speed climbing technique and coordination through regular simulations.

“So far, I have been continuously improving my movements, strengthening my body, and preparing mentally for the competition,” Kadek said. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
