RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian para cyclist Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin has set a new personal benchmark at the Asian Para Track Championships 2026, turning his four-medal haul into a springboard for the upcoming Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, this October.

Competing in Tagaytay City, Philippines, from March 25–31, the 41-year-old rider dominated the men’s C4 category. He captured two gold medals in the Individual Pursuit and 1 Kilometer Time Trial, added a silver in the Scratch Race, and secured bronze in the Elimination.

“Alhamdulillah, this race met my personal target, and I achieved a personal best. It’s encouraging that at my age I can still improve and perform better in my favorite event,” Fadli said in a statement from Jakarta on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

His standout performance came in the Individual Pursuit C4 over 4,000 meters, where he clocked 4 minutes 48 seconds, three seconds faster than his time at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. For Fadli, the result is more than a medal count; it is vital preparation for one of his main goals this year, the Asian Para Games.

“Hopefully, by the time the Asian Para Games arrive, I can be even better,” he added.

Indonesian para cycling team collectively brought home nine medals from the Philippines.

Alongside Fadli’s success, Tifan Abid Alana contributed two silvers in the men’s C2 Individual Pursuit and 1 Kilometer Time Trial, plus two bronzes in the Scratch Race and Elimination. Tandem duo Nurfendi and Mufti Fadilah Salma also earned bronze in the men’s B Sprint.

Before heading to Japan, Fadli and his teammates will sharpen their form at several international events.

In May, the squad is scheduled to race at the Road World Cup in Italy, followed by the Asian regional championships in South Korea. Afterward, the team will regroup in Solo for centralized training as part of their final build-up to the Asian Para Games 2026. ***
